HOW I DETAIL

There really is no one way to complete a detail other than SAFELY and completely.  Depending on the weather, I will generally start with the exterior.  This allows me to wash and dry the exterior prior to the sun fully rising and before the heat of the day sets in.  Our dry climate causes water to evaporate quickly which can cause water spotting which takes extra time and effort to remove.

EXTERIOR

The first step on the exterior of the vehicle is always cleaning of the wheels, tires, and wheel wells.  Wheels and tires are by far the dirtiest part of any vehicle.  Not only are they closest to the surface of the road, brake pads themselves unleash a tremendous amount of brake dust and fallout that sticks to all surfaces of the rims and even on the clear coat.  It is very important not to transfer any of those particulates up on to the clear coat and paint.

Following the wheels, I apply a thick foam from top to bottom.  The foam application allows for dirt and grime to start to release from the paint making the wash process much safer on the paint.  While the foam does it's thing, I use a small detail brush and agitate all of the nooks and crannies that a wash mitt will miss.  This includes door and panel seams, gas tank port (only if the vehicle has a gas cap), around taillights, front grill, badges, and anywhere else it is needed.

Following the foam process and a good rinse, I utilize several wash mitts, one at a time, cleaning only one area with each mitt.  This allows the use of a clean mitt with each panel of the vehicle.  One final rinse and it's time to dry the car by hand and with compressed air.  Compressed air helps to force water out of all of those areas where the microfiber drying towels miss.  Once I am happy with the results, I transition to the interior.

INTERIOR

The interior always starts with detailing door and trunk jambs making sure to address areas around the hinges.  The next step involves removal of all trash and any other personal items that will be set aside and returned to you once the job is complete.  Next, and by far the most time consuming, is a thorough vacuuming of seats, all of the seat bolsters, carpets, and the trunk.  This also includes the removal of most pet hair.  This step is usually the most dramatic and provides great visual appeal..

Now its time to clean the interiors of all doors, the trunk/hatch, and the dash.  This includes cup holders, pockets, handles, and buttons.  For the dash, I also use a combination of the vacuum and detail brush to remove any visible dust from the vents, around knobs, and around the gear shift.  All hard surfaces are thoroughly cleaned.

Once all interior surfaces are cleaned, I apply a UV protectant to all plastic and vinyl leaving them looking great and protected from UV rays that make it into the car. Leather seats and trim are also properly cleaned and protected using products designed for this purpose.
